The Way Home with Russell P.
|The Way Home||2:00 pm||7:00 pm|
|Weekdays||2:00 pm||6:00 pm|
It was while growing up in Stone Mountain, Ga., that Russell P. Wall fell in love with radio as a way to connect with his dad, who was an avid listener. After graduating from the University of Georgia with a degree in speech communications, Russell P began working the overnight shift on a news talk radio station, moving his way up to daytime shifts and finally found his niche on a soft rock radio station morning show in Athens, Ga. Russell P first moved to Birmingham in 2008 to host a morning show on 93.7 WDJC. Later he would go on to co-host a morning talk show on Superstation 101 WYDE. Now Russell P is happy to make his return to Christian music radio as the host of The Way Home each weekday afternoon from 2:00-6:00 p.m.
Although Russell P has been involved in Christian ministry ranging from youth to college to working in a retirement living community, radio always brings him back. “What I love about radio is the opportunity to make a positive impact on a great number of lives each day,” he says. “If I can put a smile on someone’s face as they drive home, then I’ve done my job,”
The Way Home is a unique opportunity for Russell P to combine his love for God and his concern for people in a helpful, cheerful, edifying way. “I love that I can share my weaknesses and challenges on the air and people can relate to that,” he says. “I want to connect with our listeners, even if we never meet face-to-face and talk about how we can all be better individuals.”
A self-proclaimed minimalist whom you will almost always find in a black T-shirt, Russell P enjoys spending time with his twins, Charlie and Sarah, going to movies, playing tennis and basketball, going on walks and enjoying the latest in auto innovations. As much as he loves to look at and drive new cars, Russell P freely admits he doesn’t know the first thing about fixing cars, nor does he care to learn. You can often find him listening to the spoken word, from sermons to lectures to TED talks to learn from other great communicators.
